RESEARCH ALERT - Micrel is upgraded

LOS ANGELES, Dec 22 (Reuters) - Hambrecht and Quist said analyst Gus Richard upgraded Micrel Inc to strong buy from
buy, noting the stock's current valuation is relatively low and has little downside risk.

--''We believe that the risk of exposure to Southeast Asian markets has already been discounted in the stock,'' he said.

--''As a high-performance analog company, we belie that Micrel is likely to benefit from the growth in electronic unit
consumption enabled by rapidly decreasing memory and logic prices.''
