From Cramer's list of his 10 Worst moves in 1997:
7. Riding Ascend down 20 points before realizing that
things weren't that great there. At the beginning of the year I
averaged down every point in Ascend from 73 down to 53
before pounding the stock to kingdom come at 52. The
stock was speaking so loudly to me that something was
wrong but I was blind to it, instead accepting assurances
from the company that all was hunky dory.

Huge amount of pain there. Of course, things got quite bad
in that industry, but ASND didn't see it coming. Don't count
on management to bail you out, or analysts. The trick to
seeing ASND's demise came from looking at industry
dynamics, coming up with a mosaic about the price
changes and competition in that business.
