DOJ says Microsoft doesn't need expedited hearing zdnet.com

The U.S. Department of Justice today formally replied to Microsoft Corp.'s appeal of Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson's preliminary injunction, saying the company does not face major hardship by complying with the injunction and should not be granted an expedited hearing.

Today's moves are just the latest in what are sure to be several months' worth of legal maneuvering between the two parties, as each seeks to gain an edge in an antitrust battle that could have a profound impact on the future of Microsoft software and the software industry in general.

Great! Months of entertainment in the techno-econo-politico battle of the century! The O.J. Trial for the nerds goes on! By the time this is over, I'll be so well versed in Microsoftese, I could write a translation program! Integrety and uniformity, ethical and courteous behaviour, fragmenting and fracturing, there's a certain poetry to it once you get the rhythm down. With side issues like those Nixon-era dirty tricks, supersonic dinosaur tails, and Bill's party animal antics- maybe it really is the dawn of the Microsoft Millenium!

Cheers, Dan.
