I'm planning ahead and have absolutely no idea what to cook for Christmas dinner.

My mother is in a senior, independent-living apartment building which is quite nice but her kitchen does not have an oven. All she has is a 4 burner stove-top. The building is having a family and friends Christmas dinner party in the dining room but it's earlier in December and they have no plans, other than the regular menu, for Christmas.

Is it possible to cook a small turkey on the stove? If not, I think my only other option is a pot roast but is that festive enough?

Any ideas would be welcome.

......

Going off topic - No, she can't come to my house. Although we're less than 10 minutes apart, I'm in the States and she's in Canada and she let her passport expire too long for it to be a renewal and now she has to start from scratch as if she's never had a passport and we can't find any of the paperwork they require. That ticks me off quite a bit because she's had a passport all her life (she's 97) and all the information they need is already on file.
