Obama Ridicules GOP On Debates, Climate, The Economy, and Healthcare (Video)
November 3, 2015 by Richard Zombeck 2 Comments

Debate-Fate

It’s always nice to see the president have a little fun. Particularly coming to the end of his term, when he’s got nothing to lose. He’s entered the era of having no f*%ks to give. In April, at the White House Correspondents Dinner, President Obama joked, “After the midterm elections, my advisers asked me, ‘Mr. President, do you have a bucket list?’ And I said, ‘Well, I have something that rhymes with bucket list.’”

Obama brought the same A-game to a Democratic fundraiser in Manhattan Monday night, where he seemed to almost relish in the opportunity to openly mock the Republican Party and their presidential candidates. His comments come on the heels of the Republican candidates whining about debate moderators and questions they were asked during the most recent debates on CNBC.

“Have you noticed that every one of these candidates says, ‘Obama’s weak. Putin’s kicking sand in his face. When I talk to Putin, he’s going to straighten out.’ And then it turns out they can’t handle a bunch of CNBC moderators at a debate. I mean, let me tell you, if you can’t handle those guys, you know, then I don’t think the Chinese and the Russians are going to be too worried about you.”

The presidents ridicule wasn’t limited to just the GOP candidates, however. He took some pretty good shots at the Republican Party as a whole.

Many Republican lawmakers seem to think that because it snows in the Northeast during the winter, there’s an argument against climate change. Pointing out an incident in February in which Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) threw a snowball on the Senate floor, Obama said, “I’m not making that up. That’s what happened. That’s crazy. I was going to quote Kanye [West] but this is a family audience. But that’s cray.”

Continuing with the focus on the climate crisis, Obama added, “If you go to 100 doctors and 99 of them tell you you have diabetes … you wouldn’t say, ‘Ahh, that’s a conspiracy, all 99 doctors got together with Obama to keep me from having bacon and donuts.’ You wouldn’t do that.”

Furthering the sarcasm and defending his record, Obama joked, “[T]hey occupy a different reality, it seems,” he said. “According to them, everything was really good in 2008 when we were going through the worst economic crisis of our lifetimes…. This apparently was the golden age that I messed up.”

The Washington Post called the remarks “some of his most barbed comments to date about the 2016 race.”
