1975 – Ice Age Coming, 1.8 Degrees Cooling Over 20 Years
Posted on November 4, 2015 by stevengoddard

In 1975 there was an ice age coming – evidenced by 1.8 degrees cooling in 20 years, droughts, floods, animals migrating south, polar ice caps expanding, growing seasons shortening, starvation …

---------------------------------------------------------------

Stephen Schneider, who died in 2010, converted from ice age alarmism to global warming alarmism, though we can't know where. Wikipedia says he renounced his ice age scare alarmism in 1974 but the above 1975 article shows that isn't so. Here he is displaying a 'noble cause' (no matter what the cause was) motive to scare people so as to affect policy:

Stephen Schneider: On the one hand, as scientists we are ethically bound to the scientific method, in effect promising to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but — which means that we must include all the doubts, the caveats, the ifs, ands, and buts. On the other hand, we are not just scientists but human beings as well. And like most people we'd like to see the world a better place, which in this context translates into our working to reduce the risk of potentially disastrous climatic change. To do that we need to get some broadbased support, to capture the public's imagination. That, of course, entails getting loads of media coverage. So we have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements, and make little mention of any doubts we might have. This 'double ethical bind' we frequently find ourselves in cannot be solved by any formula. Each of us has to decide what the right balance is between being effective and being honest. I hope that means being both. (Quoted in Discover, pp. 45–48, October 1989.

His cause was catastrophism (any type would do) in order to gain social power. This attitude is rampant among climate catastrophists. Sane people should disbelieve them.
