Westmoreland got hundreds of thousands of troops in Vietnam when no less a man than LBJ didn't really want to do it. I can assure you he could, if he wanted to, get a kid into West Point and tell whoever needed to know later. It doesn't matter since Carson never suggested anything of the sort. But if he wanted it it would have been done.
