>> IMO, this attitude is killing us. What has got us into this mess is the last 100 years of going along with the progressive POV.

I actually agree with you about that and I'm certainly not proposing the Right give in to the progressives.

I think they need to be negotiated with in reasonable terms. To do that there must be a proper approach. Ask for anything else, anything but money. Because there is no money.

Our problems today don't stem from caving to progressives. Our problems stem from not understanding that huge government programs are destined to fall apart.

Of the huge programs we've started, none has lasted the lifetime of one typical person.

SS started and is $9 Trillion in debt in the lifetime of many who are alive today. That the first beneficiary, Ms. Ima Mae Fuller, paid in $24 and proceeded to collect over $20,000 in benefits during her lifetime, should have told them right away something was wrong.

Medicare, even worse. Projected, by the predecessor to CBO, to cost $12 Billion in its 25th year, that cost approached $100 Billion and the program is now in the area of 50 Trillion in the hole.

And Obamacare is on its way out within a few years. But Republicans had absolutely no say in its enactment.

The point being that these are all are supposed to be programs that have multiple lifetimes of solvency, and not one of them has come close.

The problem is not caving. It is unrealistic expectations.
