I'm really not interested in band aids at all. My entire point was that we really need to comprehend the third rail status of these programs and elect someone who will make it the most important, almost sole objective for a four year term with the understanding it could end in failure and a one termer.

Absent political considerations these problems are solvable. But the entire discretionary budget has to be on the table. I don't know how that person gets elected.

We are leaving future generations a country in tatters. The likelihood we will do anything about it is approaching nil.

Thomas Sowell has said he thinks the probability of the country surviving, in its previous state, this crisi at under 5%. I think he was being generous.
