No, nothing like it at all. He was a ROTC cadet. He knew the situation. He decided to buff his credentials. All of the events that he has promoted as being core to his character have been exaggerated or even made up.

If the whole scholarship vs. free tuition was the only one, it would have died a pretty quick death. But pretty much all of his stories about his youth are just not checking out.
