The drought very likely is the result of climate change. How does an el Nino render the proof meaningless? I mean, it could, but it would take several years of el Ninos to end the drought. If that were to happen, that would be an unprecedented event. Likely the result of climate change...

"Likely the result of climate change" is an absolute throw-away line. What it means is, "Who knows what caused it?"

If there were proof, you would say, "It is the result of climate change."

If it is merely "likely," it means nothing at all unless you can put an actual probability on it. Fine, say, there is an 80% probability with a 95% confidence level" that it is a result of climate change.

Can you or someone else show statistically just how likely it is and how confident you are that it is?
