Can't compare tcpip to ie. If ie were controlled by a standards organization and not by Microsoft, this comparison would make sense. Microsoft and free enterprise in the same sentense? Got a few laughs out of that one. If Microsoft were split into two companies - OS and everything else - then that statement would make sense. But if this happened, contrary to what others have suggested, Microsoft would go overnite from being the dominant software behemoth to a regulated utility on one hand and a so-so apps company on the other. On the same playing field as other apps vendors (without access to undocumented OS specifics or a that limitless spigot of cash from OS sales to finance anticompetitive price wars and software dumping), they're mortal - exposed to the harsh reality of true competition. These claims that "IE is part of the OS" are downright insulting. How stupid does msft think we are? What's next? "Oh by the way, your honor, SQL Server will be fully integrated with NT 6, and we can't possibly pull it out..." Yet domain control capability and various other niceties are in NT Server, but not NT Workstation - and last I checked NT workstation functions just fine without them yet is 98%+ the same code as Server??? Gimme a break!!!
