After a large run-up, it is not surprising
for people to dump a retail stock.
Retail is a fickle business that has its
product line constantly turning over. If you
like one pair of Timberland shoes and come
back to buy the same one in two or three years
it is not always there.
Also, it is tough to buy a stock that makes such
great products that you don't need to buy again
for many years. I resole my Timberlands at least
once before replacing them. I used one a few times
a week for five years before a gave up on them.
Thats not good for sales although it builds a great
rep.
I do not think they have done well at diversifying
into clothes or retail shops.
