I like how "they say" (you didn't write that, did ya?), "a restrained monetary supply". Volcker didn't restrain the monetary supply he STRANGLED it. The EASIEST type of economic malaise to solve is caused by "inflation". When Reagan was shot in 1982 most of the workers in the country weren't that upset about it because Reagan had CRUSHED the economy and the job market with punitive interest rates. At the time, working people were wishing that they had voted for Carter instead. The ONLY thing that Reagan really did was to make "deficit spending" ACCEPTABLE. Especially on the military. You know how many STUPID things the military throws away money on? You probably don't because the military SINCE Reagan seems to get a FREE PASS to blow as much money as they can.
