11/20/15 Contest update
Most of you, I’m sure, have heard about the poor shnook who lost $143,000 selling short KBIO. But why are people making fun of the guy for using GoFundMe to raise cash to cover his loss? They should give him a Nobel prize for solving the wealth inequality problem!
He taught us there’s no reason to feel shame when we make a stupid trade that costs us money. Instead, we should tell everyone how dumb we were and then demand payment from those who got pleasure from our pain. Call it the Schadenfreude Guilt Fee. And my own portfolio certainly has lots of schadenfreude potential.
Meanwhile, at Friday’s close the Contest median was up 13.67% YTD (vs. up 12.35% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index, was up 9.71% YTD (vs. up 6.54% YTD a week ago) and the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index, was up 11.86% YTD (vs. up 10.79% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 7.79% YTD (vs. up 4.05% YTD a week ago).
Contest leader MOPGCW’s portfolio got a nice boost from SRPT and is now up a sizzling 76.14% YTD. DONS’ portfolio, up 59.07% YTD held on to second place and another SRPT holder, GHMM’s portfolio, moved into third place with a 51.25% YTD gain.
At the week’s close, 37 of the 51 Contest portfolios were still in the green with 33 beating the NBI and 31 beating the SPSIBI. The 206 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 4.95% and a median YTD loss of -8.59%.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the week’s Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks.
(Foreign stock prices are not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: None
(All corrections, especially adjustments for buyouts & splits, greatly appreciated.)
Enjoy a safe & fun weekend biotechies.
Peace & good health,
Bulba
