It seems to me that Americans who post such drivel are aiming for one of two things:
(1) To garner some kind of attention, even if that attention is extremely negative, because they thrive on simply 'stirring the pot' and ruffling feathers, or
(2) To divert the attention of conservatives from the real issues that need to be examined, and instead steer them toward defending that which requires no defense.
Of course, the third option, that the poster is really so out of touch with reality as to believe what he writes, is a fringe option as well -- in which case, the odds of changing his mind (such as it exists) would prove to be an exercise is futility anyway.
Short of outright banning, silence, in the face of such posts, is golden. |
