Consider dogs. Dogs are the same species, Canis familiaris, which consists of many different breeds. Some breeds are generally gentle and very friendly, such as a golden retriever. Other breeds are generally very aggressive and dangerous, such as pit bulls. Likewise, some dog breeds are very intelligent, such as a border collie, while some are far less intelligent, such as an afghan hound.
All humans (we are told) comprise a single species, Homo sapiens sapiens, but, as is the case with dogs, there are very visible and measurable differences among humans. Some races and ethnicities are measurably very responsible, intelligent, good citizens. Others are irresponsible, dangerous, low quality citizens.
There are also very convincing arguments that Homo erectus still exists and walks amongst us today [1].
