"YOU don't rely on your own solar "

Foolish little boy. Why should I buy batteries? Then , what would I do with the extra 500KWH XS per year, if not sell it back? Leave all my lights on all day, and my TV on all night? Buy 500KWH more storage every year, until I have 40 acres of storage?

Calif has enuf hydro. We need more sun, wind, geothermal, tide, and chicken manure.

"YOU don't consider it reliable enough to depend entirely on it"

I do consider it reliable enuf to depend entirely on it. The 2 newest house on the hill do that right now, cuz it was cheaper than hooking up to the grid. I just consider it stupid and wasteful to do so, solely in order to prove the point to you. I won't disconnect until the grid becomes unreliable, and rather than batteries, I might just plug in the creek for the rainy season.
