One of my per peeves about a trend in modern web design -

Too many sites give over a good chunck of the screen real estate to a frame and menu for the site. I wouldn't mind if it was just part of the web page and scrolled away with everything else when you scroll down, but on many sites it remains in place and the viewing area is reduced.

Another peeve is too much use of javascript slowing down pages. (Esp. on my old desktop and work laptop, not so bad on my new laptop.)
