To answer the question...the remedy would be to bring a suit for defamation...in this case libel...actually in this case libel per se since the false statements go to my trade or profession....Its become a murkier body of law in recent times...but in earlier times, defamation per se did not require a showing of any particular damage....it was thought such statements were so harmful on their face that no other damage needed to be shown...nowadays that is less certain...but in NH there is a 2008 case which seems to continue the older view of defamation per se which does not require proof of specific damages........best case would be for instance if I lost a bunch of clients because people actually believed that I was not a lawyer......or a "shyster" and I could prove with some degree of certainty that my income was reduced I might get some significant $$ in addition to the judgment (in the 2008 case the Court awarded $10,000. without proof of specific damages)....also perhaps if I could show that the false statements were made with knowledge of falsity perhaps the suit could fit into one of the exceptions under NH law where you might also obtain an award of attorneys fees....

Litigation is always a crap shoot....and neither one of those jerks is worth the effort to actually pursue such a matter....
