Today's market.

The market collapsed today around 3:30PM and went down until the bell.
Intel started down at about 2PM. It traded fairly narrowly

I guess they don't want to take a chance on Japan's market tonight. "Structural issues" in Korea's economy or as Kim Dae Jung said WHATTA MESS!!!! WE DON"T HAVE ANY MONEY. I DON'T KNOW IF WE WILL GO BANKRUPT TODAY OR TOMORROW.

Today the World bank gave Korea an emergency loan of 3 billion in foreign currency to prevent a default on 15 billion dollars coming due in short term loans at the end of this month. That means there is a shortfall in the Korean governments foreign funds account. This is not pretty. The SOB's in Japan are not rolling over their loans!

So in effect we are going to end up loaning money to Korea from our currency reserves to pay off Japan! Japan that great creditor nation with all of our foriegn debt and an enormous balance of payments surplus to boot.

Time to do a debt restructuring. If the Japanese banks will not help smooth out the situation then let them get $.35 on the $1.00.

As to Intel. S&P puts it in their 97-98 Platinum Portfolio calling 69.8 fair value basing that on a P/E ratio in 1998 of 15.8 with 98 earning of $4.75.

I suggest taking the P/E ratio and applying it to a more realsitic assessment of 98 earnings. To me that looks like 56-64.

Anybody else have an opinion.

That gives you some idea of what's happening.
