Barry, that's a good question, and your right about GE not NBC.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, the press, and especially the major big three, seem to editorialize allot about a broad range of issues such as the Microsoft dispute, by siding with the pro-government arguments.
Why would a company such as GE allow this sort of slanted editorializing is really unclear to me. The easiest answer is they have little or no control about what type of content is put on the air. To do so might bring that same wrath down on them.
In general it seems to me, allot of people who are driven into the reporting profession, believe in a cause of injustice, of one sort or the other. Big business not sharing their wealth equally with their workers, seems to be one manifistation of that belief.
Bill Gates is now the richest man in the world. Although he has created many millionares, spawned thousands upon thousands of jobs and encouraged the proliferation of computing power in every home. I believe they just don't think he has done enough "for the good of man" with all his wealth. Therefore, he's an easy target for potshots when in a dispute with the Justice Dept. Success is not admired by the press, it is often viewed by them as something that was not earned, but cheatedly gained in an unscrupulous way.
