Feeling your oats, I see?! Well, your camp seems to have won today's foray in the market, so enjoy it.

Yes, beta releases should be QA'd. Perhaps you're confusing them with alpha releases? Or are you saying MSFT is justified in dumping code into the hands of beta testers without any, or with inadequate, QA? That would explain a lot, like why there are now multiple sequential beta's of some of their products (i.e. "second betas"). Has the public been enlisted as MSFT's QA group?

You're _miffed_? Well, I don't care! Perhaps you just mean you disagree?

Windows hasn't even "dispatched" NetWare, let alone any of the others. Rhapsody hasn't even been engaged. I've seen, and reported here, indications that NT isn't selling nearly as well as MSFT would have us believe. I suspect it is mostly displacing Windows 3.1 and Win95. Some of the alternatives are already cheaper (especially Linux <g>). They may not offer as many applications, but most desktops only use a few key applications, anyway, and those categories are available, albeit not as successful as MSFT's versions.

Obviously Windows has more installed desktop seats, but I contend it won't necessarily stay that way. Java will help level the playing field, as will the other factors I listed in my original post.

Has anyone actually seen a Net-PC or Win-terminal? I certainly haven't. Should we write them off as DOA? Are we waiting for Godot?

JMHO, as usual.
