Grim: (and all other stock market warriors)
I think it's time for a one month contest. Everybody knows that I'm a bear, and by the sound of your latest post, you are an upstanding bull. Here's the pitch;
- anybody can enter....once only.
- no changes allowed after entry.
- pick your five best stocks either short or long
- list your purchase/sale price (no cheating) which will be the trading price of each of your stocks at the time of entry. (ie. the price of all five at 2:30 PM on December 24, 1997).
- Contest starts tomorrow at 9;30 AM. It ends on January 31,1998 at 4:00PM.
- Picks to be posted on this thread
- Each day or two, we'll look at who the best and worst are and make appropriate comments about their stock picks, their intelligence, their probable final destination, whatever,.
-those praised or picked upon will be expected to defend their choices with intelligent, or better still, humorous "analyst style" comments.
- The winner will be crowned head bull or bear of the thread for the following month and all who address him will be required to use an appropriately designated salutation. If a whimp wins (anybody who bets both sides is a whimp), we will heap appropriate abuse and scorn upon him/her for a full day.
- The whole thing is for the fun of it and to brighten up a long month for us Northerners.
- Earlie, at his sole discretion will apply appropriately arbitrary rulings on any disputes. (heh,heh,heh)
- We need a statistical whiz to keep everybody's results aligned so that we can see who needs to be abused/cheered. Any volunteers?
- Entries posted before a market opens, enjoy the first trade price....for better or for worse.
Finally, I fully expect that my brilliant and superbly timed short picks will bury your foolish and ill considered long choices (g).......a side bet as it were. (I'd better improve upon my results of the this past year or I'll have to eat these fighting words). (g)
