“America has forgotten about us,” said Rev. Y Hin Nie, of the United Montagnard Christian Church in Greensboro, North Carolina, a state that’s home to the world’s largest Montagnard population outside Vietnam. At least 12,000 Montagnards and their descendants live there today, including the first resettled in the 1980s, partly because of a Special Forces base at Fort Bragg. Y Hin Nie is a close personal friend and has been for the almost 30 years since he arrived. I know his extended family and he knows mine. We see each other on a near weekly basis. My truck is full of donations from friends and my extended family to his church that I expect to deliver today. I am going to ask him about the 1st phrase of the first sentence above.
