The Mac you're referring to is actually called a "Mac mini" and they are quite capable as long as you're not looking to run the latest 3D games.

Another advantage a lot of people still seem not to know about is that you can also run Windows on a Mac these days, either through software emulation (using a program like Parallels, Fusion, etc.) or by using Apple's own Boot Camp software and running it natively in hardware. It works quite well since Macs now use Intel processors. I know a few people who exclusively run Windows on their Macs because they like the hardware and never use OS X at all.
