This whole idea, or rather ruse, the right-wing is using to deflect the need for gun control by monitoring people's mental health is such nonsense. You can put it right alongside trumps crazy idea of deporting 11 million Latinos. We know next to nothing about the mind. This is easily established by realizing there is no efficacy with regard to psychotherapy. There is a correlation with empathy, but not psychotherapy. And after reading Ornstein, and thinking about the concepts he brings up and the near infinite complexity of the human mind, we still have a long way to go before were are going to know much of anything about the human mind. The only way to stop all this violence is gun-control. And a simple way to do it, and still not infringe on people's right to own guns, is to simply ban handguns. Rifles are the only reasonable weapon to use for hunting, and work perfectly fine for self-defense. There is simply no logical reason that we need to have handguns, well or assault rifles. The solution is so simple, and proven, yet still it evades the conservative mind. Japan has almost no murders. 100 a year or something like that. They also have no guns.
