From one old guy to another! Got tempted by an apparently good buy on Black Friday at my local Staples, and bought an ASUS T100HA Transfor, with Windows 10. I specified that I wanted it principally for e-reading, which in Canada means PDF (Adobe) and EPUB for borrowing books from our local public library. My two existing machines run W7, and work fine, but I wanted something smaller and lighter to read material when sitting comfortably, and also when offline in our boat.
No manuals were available, at all, either for the machine or for W10 (I asked for something like W10 for Dummies, which is about my level, even though I began my computer life many years ago writing financial models in PL1). The salesman said that one is expected to learn how to use a touchscreen machine and W10, by just "playing with them", and that with my many years experience I should have no problems (!).
After two very painful days, I returned the lot, and got my money back - Staples behaved very well in that respect.
THe lesson here is that if you are a nearly complete ignoramus, a raw touch screen machine with W10 is not user friendly enough to learn by "playing about". I have now bought Professor Teaches W10, and am working my way through this interactive programme on my old W7 desktop.
THe whole experience has left me feeling old and stupid!
