Easier to keep potential terrorists out of the country than guns out of their hands - you do realize they want to commit murder (which is a crime) - so pesky little gun laws are as silly as gun free zones. Pretty sure pipe bombs are illegal but that didn't stop the San Bernardino couple. How about those Paris gun laws - didn't work there either.
