This is the straw man that I read everywhere being set up. It is unconstitutional to prevent muslim US citizens to come into the country, but that's not the proposal. But that's how they set it up as a gotcha.

Immigration is a plenary power of the US government. There is ample case law from the Supreme Court holding the government can prevent any non-citizen from entering the country for any reason or no reason. Non-citizens are not entitled to equal protection or First Amendment religious protections outside our borders. And our naturalization laws already provide a political test, excluding people who fail to show sufficient "attachment" and have various political beliefs.

We stopped strictly applying the immigration and naturalization laws in the 90s. The last moratorium ended in the 60s. I think its time for a history lesson and I hope Trump gives the nation a much needed refresher that this is our country and nobody has the right to come here.
