A little side line here------The Greenbrier Hotel known as the White House of the South has gone through many changes and uses.

I have been told that some German soldiers were kept as prisoners. They were brought to that area and kept then released after WWII. They were allowed to either return to Germany or to stay in America. As the story goes, they had been treated so well in captivity and fed so well that the majority decided to stay in America.

Someday I will research that claim.
