This is totally off topic, but this board seems good at general help.

So....I've recently bought an apartment in a condo unit. There is a homeowner's association and board. Does anyone have something along the lines of Homeowner's Associations for Dummies that would explain the basics of what the Homeowners Association should and should not be doing? We have our first annual meeting in about three weeks, I'm just interested to learn something like "industry best practices" before I attend my first meeting.

The condo has a rental pool option so that absentee owners can put their units into the rental pool when they are away and get some income. Those who participate can use their units something like 45 days per year and it is in the rental pool for the remainder of the year. If anyone has a guide on best practices for this type of business I'd be interested to read that as well.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Finally, is there a "general questions about anything" board on SI where this question might be more appropriate?
