Here is the current status of DROM as per my three sources. The Usga meeting is OCT. 16 - 19th. DROM will present on the morning of Oct. 19th.

Drom will demonstrate the following:
1. They sucessfully completed a 5 kiosk pilot. (IN fact they sucessfully completed a 33 kiosk pilot.)
2. They have the financing in place for the larger project. (10.3 commitment from CLG 7/22/96)
3. They have four national advertizers. (THey have announced AST computer and claim they have the other three.)
4. They are seeking relationships with several large advertising and sports management organizations to market their kiosks and advertising space. They have had very positive meetings to that end.
5. There is no cost to the USGA or country club. The cost is financed by DROM. In fact The USGA shares in the advertising revenue that is generated. This is very important. It is a major incentive for the the USGA to go forward with the rollout. If you join these country clubs, 15 dollars of your dues goes toward your inclusion in the GHIN system. These computers will tie all of that together. I have not been able to find a reason why the USGA would not go forward with the deal. The GHIN system is the system that tracks all of the player handicaps and my understanding is thatit has been in place for years. THe kiosks just make it " easier than it's ever been before" according to one Pro that I contacted last week.
There are over 8000 USGA member clubs in 60 regions. There is huge potential.

More on next post. I am doing this in steps because I have been knocked out of P* in the middle of posts and had to start over.
