Both call for ending things despite the means. The "oh, who could have guessed they would have chosen THOSE means" are being disingenuous. Um, that is a fancy word for "lying".

There is no guess work called for. Ending some practice, policy, or custom in America is understood to involve change through normal democratic processes. It is also understood that anyone violating that by committing a violent act is to be condemned by culture, societal mores, and by law. It is also understood that anyone committing a violent act to further the objectives of ISIS will be praised by ISIS and the culture of ISIS supporters, and promised eternal rewards by the supporters of ISIS. Even a devout ISIS member would see the difference there.

That you refuse to recognize a difference is on you but does not advance any other point of view.
