With raw materials from whatever source was available. To the extent colonization reduced the price of the materials* it was a relatively modest contributor to European growth. Probably large in an absolute sense (if you don't consider the cost of colonization itself), but not so large compared to the amount of total new wealth created.

*which is possibly a negative amount, in other words the change from colonization could have been an increase, if you include the cost of obtaining and maintaining the colonies
