What bombing back to the stone age happened before 9/11? Libya? - Not exactly bombing back to the stone age, and also a response to the Berlin bombing and also after a couple of Libyan attacks on the US Navy. Gulf War? - More bombing there but concentrated on military targets. Not to say that civilians were not killed (and a large number of soldiers were killed), but it didn't put Iraq back to pre-historic times. Also it was a response to Iraqi aggression and invasion. Earnest Will, Prime Chance, and Preying Mantis? - I don't think Al Qaeda really cares much that we fought battles with the Iranians. And again there was no mass bombing.
