Hi miss penni, I have no problem with exposing children to different religious songs and ideas. The trouble is, it is never balanced. It is always heavily weighted to the Christian side. They seem to think that any other belief is not worthwhile. I once suggested at a school board meeting that the children should learn about the basic tenets of the different religions and humanism and they would have none of that. I heard comments by some parents that they didn't want their children exposed to that kind of garbage. Try it sometime.

I did protest some of the flagrant violations at our school to no avail. For some reason my son was never given a solo at the band concerts even though he was probably one of the best musicians. Getting the ACLU involved would be inviting a bullet in the back in a small town like this. I have had verbal threats already. In addition, my wife made it clear that she would not support me.

Here's an interesting little Christmas story. About 1983 I was invited by Madalyn O'hare to a "Solstice" party at her house because I had volunteered some time at the Athiest center in Austin. We were greeted at the door by her son Garth, who was also an avowed Athiest. Just inside, in the hallway, was a tape recorder playing "Noel". I asked Garth "Hey Garth, what is this this all about?" He replied "Hey, I like the song, O.K.?"

Don't tell anyone, O.K., penni?

You still didn't tell me. Did you sing or play an instrument or what?
