You said "What if Zen does or doesn't exercise options is irrelevant"

Really? What is the purpose of issuing options? It is a way of letting employees profit from their hard work at making the company successful. If they don't exercise options that are in the money, what might that imply? Perhaps that the option holders don't expect the share price to rise, and thus purchasing the shares, even at the option discount price, is not a good economic decision.

It would even make sense for the holders to exercise and then sell enough shares to break even, as Mr. Mustapic did earlier. That would at least provide the company with some much-needed funds, although not a real ringing endorsement of the company, as they did not put any of their own money into it. Perhaps this is not being done right now because the option holders are afraid they may not be able to unload the ~1 million shares required during this period of low volume trading. Who knows? But to say that the exercise or expiry of the options doesn't matter is not a valid statement. It matters for public perception. It matters for company funds. And I suppose it matters for the way brokerages might perceive the company's potential.

There is still time to exercise, but it is getting tight. If I were still holding ZEN, I would be disappointed if the insiders didn't exercise in full. If I've got my money in a company, I would like the company insiders to have some of theirs in, too.
