For Canadian equities, the settlement date this year is Thursday, December 24th. That is the last day for tax loss selling to be treated as a tax loss in 2015.

This may not have much of an effect this year. Are a lot of large investors sitting on substantial capital gains this year? Probably not. Therefore, no real tax-loss-selling advantage for anyone underwater.

As I see it, anyway.
