Nobody is trying to steer you away from those quotes. What is the argument? If a son is, truly, incorrigible, he should be put to death.
Do you know of any sons like that, besides the Menendez brothers, right off hand?
Likewise, if a dog comes down with rabies, it must be put to death also.
Neither the parents of such a son, nor the owner of a rabid dog, are going to have any joy about that. It is bad news.
Evangelists, by definition, preach the Gospel, the good news about Jesus Christ.
King David had messengers, foot runners. One of them was known for only bearing the good news. If he had bad news, he tried to frame it as positively as possible. See 2Samuel chapter 18, for that account, in particular, verse 27 and what King David said about one messenger. That is what evangelists aim for.
But it seems you want to find fault with preachers of the Gospel for preaching the Gospel. Dentists work on teeth. Astronomers tell us about the stars. Oceanographers tell us about the ocean.
Want you seem to want, is for preachers of the Good News, to focus on the bad news instead, such as what should be done with an incorrigible son. If you attend church and Bible study groups enough, you will eventually hear about everything in the Bible. Nobody is keeping any of this a secret, Delbert.
But how can you really expect to understand things that pertain to God if you don't believe in God and His Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit???
