I think this commercial had the most influence on me as a kid. I was convinced I could run faster and jump higher if I could get a pair of PF Flyers because of the magic wedge in the heel, so I begged my parents for a pair until I got them. I was convinced the wedge did its magic thing when I took off in them for the first time. -g-

Amazing how powerful the imagery, coupled with promise of magic in your heels could be on a kid.
