12/24/15 Contest update
Attention Biotechies!!!
The SI board for the “2016 Biotech Charity Contest” is open for business 24/7, including weekends and holidays.
Contestants can begin posting their 2016 Contest portfolio picks here:
Subject 59661
(Especially if you’re new to the Contest, please read the board Introduction before posting your portfolio.)

Santa was less generous to Contest portfolios this shortened market week than he could have been, but at least he did deliver better than a lump of coal.
At Thursday’s close, the Contest median was up 13.19% YTD (vs. up 12.18% YTD at last Friday’s close), the Nasdaq Biotech Index, was up 11.88% YTD (vs. up 8.54% YTD at last Friday’s close) and the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index was up 14.08% YTD (vs. up 11.26% YTD at last Friday’s close). Meanwhile, the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 6.60% YTD (vs. up 3.95% YTD at last Friday’s close).
With just 4 trading days left, it’s highly likely MOPGCW’s portfolio, up 75.78% YTD, will take the 2015 Contest crown. But there’s a tight battle for runner-up, with second place GHMM’s portfolio, up 57.83% YTD, edging out third place DONS’ portfolio, up 56.59% YTD, by a mere smidgen.
At the week’s close, 36 of the 51 Contest portfolios were in the green with 27 beating the NBI and 24 beating the SPSIBI. The 206 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 4.07% and a median YTD loss of -9.46%.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the week’s Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks.
(Foreign stock prices are not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: ISIS symbol change to IONS
(All corrections, especially adjustments for buyouts & splits, greatly appreciated.)
Enjoy a safe and happy Christmas weekend biotechies.
Peace & good health,
Bulba
