MCQUAID MAKES THE UNKIND COMPARISON By Neal Colgrass, Newser Staff newser.com Posted Dec 28, 2015 3:45 PM CST (NEWSER) – Donald Trump is "a crude blowhard with no clear political philosophy." He's "an insult to the intelligence of Republican voters." He has "no deeper understanding of the important and serious role of President of the United States." So writes Joseph W. McQuaid, publisher of the New Hampshire Union-Leader in a withering editorial that looks ahead to the state's primary on Feb. 9. Arguing that New Hampshire Republicans should dismiss Trump at the polls, McQuaid saves a big insult for last: Trump "reminds us of the grownup bully 'Biff' in the 'Back to the Future' movie series," writes McQuaid. "Lo and behold, the screenwriter says that he based Biff on Trump." McQuaid adds that Trump was foisted on voters by "the crowds, the media coverage, and the polls." He even argues that reporters "are lavishly covering Trump" in part to boost Hillary Clinton, who will "move back into the White House" if Trump becomes the GOP nominee. Trump can be "an entertaining character," yes, and indulge in "name-calling that drives the Politically Correct crowd insane. But his public descent into bathroom humor and verbal bullying has been painful." So on Feb. 9, McQuaid writes, "send 'Biff Trump' back to somewhere—anywhere but on the road to the most important elective office in the United States at a most crucial time for this nation."
