The Saudis are going through the suffering because they saw that jump in unconventional in just 4 years from 2010 to 2014

They reasoned: If the world adds a layer of unconventional -all of them non_OPEC- good bye swinging price power.

The end result of Saudi's action is:

Deflate unconventional as it cuts the fat out and become more efficient and will keep taking large and larger share of conventional

When the Saudis say we don't want to lose market share they mean:

We don't want conventional to lose a market share to unconventional, not to another countries
