Saudi Arabia while officially Sunni, has primarily a Shia population in their Eastern Province where demonstrations against the Saud Family have become increasingly frequent and more violent.

During protests in 2014 Saudi authorities arrested the most senior Shia Imam in Saudia Arabia, Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr, and sentenced him to death for encouraging the protests against the Saud family and "seeking foreign meddling" in the Kingdom.

Saudi Arabia beheaded Shia Imam in Saudia Arabia, Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr today along with 46 others.

Saudi Arabia's top cleric, Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdulaziz Al al-Sheikh, defended the execution, calling it a "mercy to the prisoner as it would prevent him committing more crimes."

Both Iran and Hezbollah in Lebanon, both Shia, have promised Saudi Arabia will pay a high price for "assassinating" Imam Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr".

Shia violence and terrorist bombings in Saudi Arabia is likely to soon reach the same level of violence England endured at the hands of the Catholics for decades.
