PTK - I've never been quite sure what POET are actually doing in their optical integration tech, but did see this El Reg article (based on a Nature paper) that describes a 45nm two-core RISC processor some academics have built on standard silicon production systems, that provides an optical interconnect between the CPU chip and the external memory (which has great speed/power advantages and can have the memory a way off from the processor).

Given "No other processor has the photonic I/O in the chip." what are POET doing I wonder?
