Eric, PMFJI >> P.S.S. If we can not develop it, let's Buy it or atleast partner with somebody who can implement the system. WE DO NOT HAVE TO DEVELOP EVERYTHING OURSELF INTERNALLY....MS DOES NOT! <<
Eric, Think FTP could help? (re: my other posts on FTP)
(Have to get away from "proprietary")
Maybe Joe Marengi should get some suggestions, eh?

FTP Software Outlines IP Strategy, Intros Products
Topic Matched: Network Protocols
Comtex, September 24, 1996
ANDOVER, MASSACHUSSETS, U.S.A., 1996 SEP 24 (Newsbytes) -- By Ian Stokell. The current trend in network computing is away from proprietary protocols and technologies, and towards more open protocols, such as those of the Internet, in the form of TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol). Now FTP Software has outlined its vision for the Virtual IP (VIP) Network, a standards-based system designed to deploy, manage, and secure IP infrastructures. At the same time the company has also introduced version 2.0 of VIP OnNet32, billed as a new TCP/IP connectivity suite for virtual IP networks.
VIP OnNet32 2.0 is claimed to be the first TCP/IP suite to support IPv6, WinSock 2.0, IPSECurity standards, and virtual private network security standards for Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0. The company maintains that it also allows network administrators to centrally and securely install, configure, and manage a TCP/IP infrastructure.
Larry Backman, vice president of systems services at FTP Software said, "As networks have become more complex, customer needs have been driven far beyond basic connectivity and Internet access. Therefore, our customers need more functionality than what is available in the operating system."
VIP OnNet32 2.0 reportedly provides support for intranet/Internet security, including support for IPSECurity -- which provides point-to-point security based on open standards for authentication and encryption. It also includes a product implementation of PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) in its mail application.
In all, VIP OnNet32 2.0 is claimed to provide more than 20 applications optimized for 32-bit operating systems, which reportedly replicate the Windows 95 and Windows NT interface.
VIP OnNet32 2.0 is available now, and priced at $450 for a single user. The company says that users of FTP Software's OnNet32 1.0, OnNet 2.0, OnNet 2.1, InterDrive 95/NT 1.0, and InterDrive 95/NT 2.0 can upgrade to VIP OnNet32 2.0 using a feature that automatically detects the current configuration. VIP OnNet 32 2.0 also provides migration tools to upgrade from the Microsoft TCP/IP stack.
The company also announced the Virtual IP Internet Gateway for NetWare, which reportedly "delivers a range of features to allow network managers to troubleshoot, manage, and analyze users' access to a company's intranet resources and the Internet."
The product is a result of the recent acquisition of Firefox Communications Inc. The company says that VIP Internet Gateway for NetWare enables FTP to provide "a complete desktop-centric and server-centric TCP/IP solution for NetWare clients."
The VIP Internet Gateway for NetWare reportedly allows all installation, configuration, and management procedures to be handled directly from the server, and requires no reconfiguration of existing Novell networks.
The VIP Internet Gateway for NetWare will ship on September 30, priced at $1,055 for a five user license.
