I dunno... I've never owned Tsy. paper either... if the bulk of one's dividend PF is in a retirement acct., the tax issue is simply cap gain tax rate vs. deferred regular income tax rate (presumably at a time in life when one's marginal tax rate is lower)... I really don't worry about taxes on my investments -- or at least that's not my primary concern outside of the usual stuff like MLPs, ROTHs, etc. -- because if I end up owing a lot of tax for some reason, it means I've made a lot more money than I thought I would... I've experienced more pain from bad investments and lost more money on them than I will ever pay in taxes in my lifetime (I mark it down as my "tuition" over the last 40 years of learning how to invest wisely)...
