I think knives, poison, hanging, overdose of drugs or jumping off building or cliffs are just as awful. The list goes on. and on.

....no guns in Japan.....but they kill themselves at a rate far exceeding that in the US........jumping in front of trains was once very popular until the train lines starting charging the families to scrape their "loved ones"
off the tracks........seems like it was causing way too many delays. But the ever resourceful Japs came up with a solution.........suicide web sites which detail a whole host of economical ways to do ones self in.
