My comment on printing money certainly wasn't meant to be like the German post WWI model, but to allow the money supply to increase at a rate that nudges the economy and doesn't choke it.

They are currently being too tight.

It's another piece of the puzzle. Along with lower taxes, less regulation, more financial transparency, and yes, letting dead banks and corporations fall down.

Couldn't agree more with your position on bailing out the speculators leading to ever increasing and more insane speculation. Which it does appear is what has happened in Asia.

I have to say that as long as capitalism has existed, there have been cycles. Different scales, different lengths, different catalysts. They all go to excess, and the down cycles cleanse.

The longer and more excessive the up cycle, the longer and often harsher the down cycle that corrects it.

That's where we may be, I'm afraid.
